Recognizing the critical importance of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's unique
charters, FM Policy Focus will monitor the activities of these
government-sponsored enterprises as well as:
Alert the public to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac actions that benefit the
interests of their investors but at the expense of homebuyers and taxpayers;
Support market competition that results in affordable housing for consumers;
Support Federal policies that do not allow the GSEs to move beyond their unique charters into markets and services already provided by the private sector; and
Support Federal policies that prevent exposure to unnecessary risks that
could require a massive bailout by the American taxpayer.
